Fall Festival

PRESS RELEASE

for immediate release

Denton/Sanger, Texas

On a beautiful Fall Sunday night, October 29, New Life Church hosted their annual Fall Festival.  The church grounds were filled with 550 happy children and parents – up 100 people from the year before.

Guests walked in through a hay bale castle gate (via the imagination of Michael Ann Harting) and entered a world of games like the toilet paper toss (Brandon and Alicia Metcalf), a life-sized Angry Birds (Michael and Karla Martinez), and bingo (with Brian and Leslie Owens). There were crafts, face-painting, and lots and lots of candy.

Michael Hydock and James White and their crew served free hot dogs throughout the night.

Shelly McClay, who organized the event better than a FEMA rescue operation, kept families busy.  If they weren’t at a booth, they could sit and listen to the New Life worship team, join in the costume contest, or take a hayride around the church property.

“Wow” said one anonymous guest. “This is amazing! I was expecting a few games and a bobbing for apples bucket.  This is an event!”

The key to the success of New Life’s Fall Festival was the number of volunteers.  But don’t use that term around Pastor Jim Mann. “Here, we aren’t volunteers. We’re ministers.  Our goal wasn’t to have a great event. Our goal was people – to welcome them and make them feel loved, to meet them, to see kids smile and hear them laugh.  Our desire is to introduce people to Jesus. That’s ministry and New Life Church is filled with ministers.”

Charity Goree, the brains behind the operation, is already beginning plans for Fall Festival 2018.
